The month of February had many pieces of training that involved many farmers, CDFs and DDEs. The training focused on maize and Napier silage making. The intention of the training was to prepare farmers for dry seasons and also help connect the farmers to markets. Such skills will ensure that dairy farmers reap maximum produce through proper and modern agricultural technology when the grass is scarce.
The training also provided a structured networking environment for this tight-knit program as it brought together leaders and practitioners. They discussed the best practices in dairy farming with an aim to improve the future for Uganda’s dairy farming industry.
The participants included experts of different and wide spectrum in dairy farming and they discussed and shared key issues, developments, and best practices. They believed that mechanization will surely help to improve ensilaging methods, grassland improvement, and milking procedures. Experts delivered on hand illustrations and demonstrations on land preparation for silage, preparation of molasses mixture, explained on the correct stage for Rhodes harvesting and others.
The locals found the training as the best place to learn about new innovations and best practice in tailored workshops, and network with your peers.
