Eligibility Criteria
- You must be between the ages of 18 to 35.
- Preference will be given to female applicants.
- The project will not however exclude young men and you are welcome to apply.
- Prospective Beekeepers must have access to land which is suitable for the establishment of an Apiary. This is where Pearl Dairy Apiculture experts will position the hives.
- The proposed site for the Apiary will be assessed by the Pearl Dairy Apiculture Development Experts utilizing a list of requirements to determine the suitability of the site for beekeeping.
- The apiary must be situated in close proximity to your place of residence as you will be expected to carry out a visual inspection of the apiary on a daily basis.
- For safety reasons, no Apiary may be sited within 300 meters of any place of residence, place of work, road, or pathway.
- You are encouraged to continue pursuing your other economic interests.
- You should be passionate about nature in order to learn about the complexities of Beekeeping.
- You must be prepared to allocate time to learn the modern processes that are required to do modern beekeeping utilizing the hives that Pearl Dairy will be deployed in the field.
- The Pearl Dairy Apiculture Development team will provide you with individual hands-on training, as well as group training events where you will interact with other beekeepers involved in the project.
- Our contracted International consultant team will lead the training and development of all actors involved in the modern honey value chain.
- You will be required to sign an agreement with Pearl Dairy stipulating the conditions, expectations, and duties of the various actors involved in the project.
